[concours] Re:[xj] Averill and Andrachuk earn first place titles!

Despite serious competition from a recently-out-of-retirement (and gorgeous)
Signal Red XJ6C, JDRC/NWA pres Steve Averill garnered yet another 1st Place
trophy in the concours C11 class ! Way to go Steve.

Gregory Andrachuk goes home not only with a 1st place win in C12 but his
Crimson Series III V12 also earned the coveted (and not always awarded)
“Most Elegant” trophy. This is a perpetual award which is passed on each
year. Anyone who has seen this Jaguar knows that the recognition is well
deserved.

The JDRC/NWA put on a splendid event and the venue was a very pleasant park
setting with catered food and a good sampling (about 40, I think) of great
Jags, including an SS100 and an XJ220. Great job !

Following the concours was a (rather swank!) banquet at Hart
Properties…a wonderful classic car collection in an elegant atmosphere.
It appeared to me that everyone had a very pleasant evening. My hat’s off to
the JDRC.

That’s the quick run-down. I’ll let Steve and Gregory handle the finer
details !

I forgot my camera. Sorry. I’m sure Averill will put some up.

I was heartened to see the recognition of a Jaguar built since the 1950’s.
Andrachuk was surprised, mulling over whether the SS100 or the Mark V DHC,
or perhaps the Mark IX or an XK would win the award.

I’ve had no time to post pictures of the show yet, but a shot of Gregory
with his new dust collector, still looking somewhat bewildered at it all is

As for me - it’s time to go slalom!

PS: My daughters call it the “red devil car.” My youngest (7) talked to the
owner and my wife asked her if she knew who he was. After she said “I don’t
know,” he replied - “I’m the devil!” It’s a good-natured competition.----------

Steve will surely post more and better pics soon enough but here’s a (not
very good) pic of the coupe in question at another recent event. It’s a
beauty.

(In case you are curious, the two dashing gents in the picture are myself
(with camera, no hair) and lister Walt Chrush (has hair, no camera)

In his previous announcement, Doug neglected to mention that he took third
with his own XJ6. His car finished ahead of at least one other XJ6 so he’s
starting to kick behinds with his truly daily driver up against cars not
used daily. I thought his car looked VERY nice and poised for yet bigger
and better things to come.

Not only that but Doug is THE most relaxed owner on the field (some might say
comatose) or is it because he had pulled an all nighter so he could “rag
down” early and simply fell asleep from exhaustion? Steve - you ought to
lend him your pit crew so he doesn’t get so tired.

HeeHee. I wasn’t really so tired. I’m just well accomplished at “power
resting” (as Gregory calls it). Besides, I need those occasional cat-naps
to reinforce my aloof, devil-may-care demeanor !!

This show was so pleasant even Gregory had some lawn-chair time…wide
awake, however.

Cheers
