Confused on LED bulbs

The only place I can get those led bulbs for dash indicators is ebay…but they say you have to get a base. ??? Aren’t there just plug in ones available. …anybody know what etc

Bettercarlighting do kits for the XJS. Not cheap mind but you will get everything.

Wow, you’re not kidding. I like that they are non-directional, and you get one flashing one, but I’d go for the Amazon/eBay option with the slight inconvenience of checking polarity, rather than pay the £100+ surcharge.

I’ve been getting my car LEDs at this place for many years. Great selection and helpful. Type in your year and make, it will tell you what you can get.

What year is your car?

1988…xjs

I have a 2002 Mazda Protegé5. This car has red brake light lenses but the lenses for both the rear turn signals and the back-up lights are clear. The bulbs fitted to the turn signals need to be amber. IMHO, those amber bulbs didn’t look good as you could see them looking through the clear lens. So I bought some LED bulbs to replace them. As I hoped, the LED bulbs were uncolored, primarily white and shiny when off, so the rear of the car looked much better. When on, they produced yellow light.

They proved to be dangerous, though. In the dark they were great, bright enough to border on blinding. In bright daylight, you couldn’t see them at all. People would honk at me for not using my turn signals when I was using them. Had to ditch those things and put the regular bulbs back in.

The only ones i want to change are the dash indicators. …the rest are ok with me…i don’t like blinding ext. lites neither
