Coolant level probe

hi all, when changing the coolant level probe and rubber grommet is it best to use a sealant to help stop any leaks or just fit as is. thanks rob.

I’ve never removed mine, but I would recommend doing it the same way the factory did it. If it has a rubber grommet, I doubt any sealant was used.

I don’t think I’ve got one? (94)

hi, mine is a 1988 model with the probe in the end. i think yours is different. rob.

Mine sits in a well that is completly separated from the coolant so no extra sealing is needed.

I have changed mine few days ago for the third time since owning the car, i used “no more nails” silicone type first time and it somehow lasted, at this time i have purchased the grommet too and oh, boy it is hard fit, i managed to press the grommet into the tank first and sensor soaked in dish washing soap later, half way i was regretting using grommet and no silicone again , but now it is done and i’m happy
