Hello everyone, I am new here to the site also new to
Jaguar/Daimler. I have chosen this site as it looks so professional
& I hope that someone can assist with my questions.
I have a 1995 Daimler double six, made for the Japanese market. I
bought it as a 1995 model x305. I am trying to make sense of the
VIN code, I have seen how to decipher the codes from other pages
but it does not seem to match my numbers.
Was there a seperate code made for the Japanese market?
How can I definately tell the year & if it is a x305. Any
assistance here would be greatly appreciated & thanks in
anticipation.

X305 is just the internal code for the X300 V12s. It’s obviously a
V12 so if it looks the same as any other 94.5-97 XJ it’ll be an
X305. The 1997-2003 X308s look almost identical from outside so
again, if it’s not the squared-off 86-94 XJ40 shape it’s an X305
because there was no V12 after 96.
Gorgeous car, bit heavy on the front suspension consumables but
very nice. Treasure it. Japanes market models had different
security system settings and a few extra heat shield under the cats
etc. but were broadly similar to British/RoW models, with the
American models being more different than anywhere else. It’s all
detailed in the CD ROM which you can get from Jaguar Heritage on-
line.
