[DaimLan] RE: Consort and GREAT EASTERN RALLY

Tony and interested “Listers”,
Hmmm! That is interesting. A Mr Porter runs
a local annual rally and I think that it might be the one called the “Chug
and Puff” that takes place at a farm in Ramsden Heath. I also have many
friends, who live in Billericay.
About fifteen years ago, I “rescued” a grey Daimler Consort and I
took it home and sold it on to an enthusiast. I only bothered, because the
owner was moving house, had nowhere to store the car and was going to send
it to a scrap-yard. I did not want this to happen. I do not think that I
took any photos of the car, nor kept any record of its identity, but if I
should find that I did, I will let you know.
Are you sure that you cannot pop over for the Great Eastern Rally?
!!!

Regards,
Adrian.

Sorry, won’t be able to make it. (I’m flossing my teeth that day)
However, if you pass anywhere near Ramsden Heath (near Billericay), give the
place my regards. I spent the last two years of my life as a Pom there (my
father chuffing about in a grey Consort, last seen in a Southend dealer’s
yard
in May 1963), and very happy years they were, too.

Dear “Lister”,

This is just a short letter, to invite you to this

year’s “Great Eastern Rally” as you may not get notification of this
year’s
rally via any other source.
This year’s “Great Eastern Rally” will be held on
Sunday 23rd July, at Ingatestone Hall, Hall Lane (a continuation of
Station
Road), Ingatestone (Near Brentwood), Essex. The rally will open at 10.00
am
and will end at about 5.00 p.m.

Entry to the rally will be free of charge as

usual,

but we will hold a raffle to recoup some of the organising costs. If you
can
find anything to donate as a raffle prize, it would be most welcome. Your
free admission is to the rally field and to the grounds of the house where
there is a toilet available to us. If you should wish to visit the house,
it’s tea room, or it’s larger toilet facilities, there is an admission
charge which would normally be as follows:-
3.50 per adult, 3.00 for students or pensioners,
2.00 for children over the age of five, accompanied children under five
are
admitted free, or 11.50 for a family ticket.
Those attending the rally will be eligible to
receive a discount of 0.50p per head off the above prices.

I do hope you can come to the rally. If you want

to

bring your own friends along, then please do so. Ingatestone Hall is an
interesting place to go, even when the rally is not there.

            Yours Sincerely,

            Adrian Hanwell.

Daimler and Lanchester Owner's Club, Essex Branch

Secretary.

Regards,
Adrian.
