[DaimLan] stolen Jaguar and Daimler parts

Members: A warehouse where a buddy and I store some of our cars got
burglarized recently. The culprits
went through the roof and climbed down on a rope, then opened the doors
from within. They stole two cars, a bunch of car parts, a bunch of Snap-On
tools, lawn mower, air compressor, generator, etc. My losses are mostly
Jaguar and Daimler, while my friend’s stuff was Jaguar, BWM, Mercedes, Datsun,
AH, Alfa, and others. The extent of our losses we will not be discovered
until we have an occasion to go looking for that particular part.
They removed knock offs from every car in our building that had them-
two of my Daimlers, four Jaguars,
Triumphs, AH. They took leapers, several 4.2 heads, an XK-140 head, pans,
spare SU carbs, Minilite wheels, radiators – anything made of aluminum or
what they thought was aluminum or copper. They also stole batteries from
every car- probably 25 of them, including a couple of 6v from my XK120.
They must have been in our shop all day, as they did a pretty
thorough job of getting just about
all of the alum. We made their job pretty easy, as we had a nice tool
box, air compressor and hand truck to move the heavy stuff around. My
greatest losses, other than my 420, was the 140 head and a 2x4 bbl intake and
recently rebuilt carbs from my 1957 Ford retractable hardtop. While I do not
have a XK140 needing the head, it is a terrible loss when you consider it
will soon become a handful of beer cans, I suspect the Ford items will be
impossible to replace, particularly since they have important dates and part
numbers on them.
Too bad for us, but I hope someone out there can help me replace a few
items. They stole a bunch of Daimler 2.5 liter parts- two heads and
valve covers, sump, bell housing and auto trans- all spares. But, they also
took the entire air cleaner assembly from my otherwise complete and running
2.5 V8. This includes two alum. elbows that go from the carbs to a casting
to which the air cleaner is bolted, that casting, plus the air cleaner
itself. This is the single air cleaner which has two tubes pointing to the
front of the engine (as compared to the pair of single tube air cleaners used
on the V8 250). They did not take the air cleaners from my V8 250!!
If anyone has parted out a 2.5 V8 and have the air cleaner parts, or
knows where one is, I would like to purchase them from you.
If anyone sees a white 420 or gray BMW M-4 riding around loaded to
gills with old batteries and Jaguar parts, please let me know.
Regards, Bob McAnelly

Bob : I am very sorry to hear of these losses. It leaves a
horrible taste in the mouth. As far as your Daimler is
concerned, I should put a ‘‘wanted’’ post on the Daimler
Lanchester Owners Club website . Here in the UK we have a lot
of unused Mark 2 V8s, and there will probably be someone with
the bits you need–
