I’m in need of tires for my 1965 Daimler V8 250. The manual
lists 6.00/6.40 + 15 (Brit). The tires on it are P205/75
R15 97S. I live in NJ, USA. My mechanic thinks these tires
are too big for the car. What type of tires should I buy
now for this car?–

The best tire size to use is the same as that for a standard 6
cylinder E type : 185 HR or VR 15 . Quite a number of manufacturers
do these - Michelin , Pirelli , and cheaper but I am still very
happy with them, Vredesteins–

Thanks to everyone for the info.
I found someone in NJ that had the right size tire for the
'65 Daimler 2.5 V8. It was Eurotires in Fairfield, NJ
(thanks Paul). If you have a collector car in NJ, this guy
should be able to help you.
