Local auto sparks shop advised us to fit a 1mf suppressor to the coil to stop the tachometer from dancing about. It worked but will it cause any other long term probs
If from the positive of the coil to ground, no issue. Millions of cars have them. I am not sure if you were install it on the negative coil terminal, but probably no issue as long as no misfiring.
