Dashboard color matching challenge

I am considering replacing my antiquated GPS with the triple gauge set up. Have the center replacement panel, but it is lighter in color than the panels beside it.

Is there anyone on the list with experience removing the “plastic” coating over the wood veneer so it can be stainedt to match? Not sure if it can be dissolved with paint/varnish remove or if it can be sanded off.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am the guy who makes the conversion wiring harness so I get this type of question alot.

The finish is a polyester base and will be difficult to duplicate at home. Here is a jaguarforums.com search link that can provide many suggestions and attempts: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/search.php?searchid=6477937

However my advice to save a lot of work and potential aggravation is to find either a closer match on eBay, or, even better a complete set on eBay from a wrecked car. A nice matching set of all panels can often be had for around $150-$200 these days…perhaps not today, but if you are patient and search every day on eBay you will find it. (You can even set up automatic daily search notifications on eBay.

The other alternative is to have the panel professional re-veneered and matched at British Autowood or Madera Concepts, both who do excellent work…but it will likely cost more.
