A friend is considering purchase of a used XK8 and wants to know how to determine the date of manufacture from the VIN. Where is a good source for me to find the information?

There may be a data base but I’m not sure where to look. However, the date of manufacture is printed on the label located inside the drivers door jam. This label also has the GVW and the interior and exterior color codes. If your friend has access to the car, he can get the DOM from this label. If the car is long distance, have him ask the seller to send a picture of the label.
