Distributor driving gear, off by one tooth?

Well folks, I come back with excitement and great shame.

Engine started, woohoo!!

The problem was… I am an idjit!!

Of course the position of the drive gear does not matter. Duh

I just simply got 1 and 6 wrong.

When the camshafts are set with the tool, cyl 6 is at TDC and the rotor should fire cyl 6, not cyl 1…

That’s it. (oh I also set the 1213 distributor to advance curve 2 as advised above).

Now, there is still something disconcerting: at TDC, the rotor has already mostly passed the no.6 HT lead… but it fires.

Now I will write 100 times:

“I will not ask stupid questions on the forum, when all I need to do is double check my shoddy work, I am an idiot”.

Thank you for your patience folks

Now, putting that engine back in the car…

That’s good because if you add vacuum and centrifugal advances (so earlier spark) you don’t want it to fire empty, right? :slightly_smiling_face:
If it runs with the it is all fine. Glad you made it, I struggled too! No shame.
