Distributor Rotor Spring?

1988 Lucas V12

Got to thinking (I know, dangerous), is there supposed to be a spring that goes on the distributor shaft before you put the rotor on? Mine never had one, and so I just put my rotor onto the stem and put cap on. New rotor didn’t come with a spring.

I don’t have Lucas dizzy, but reading Kirby’s notes leaves me to believe that there is one

Those look like centrifugal advance springs?

Don’t want to remove cap to look, but I now remember, I think the spring is built into the cap?

Yes there is a spring on inside of cap if that is what your talking about?
