My X300 3.2l manual has a bit of noise.
One problem is a banging noise when the load changes. It can be avoided by smoth driving, but when driving a bit more aggressive it is very noticeable. The gearbox mount looks good and recently replaced. So it appears to be play somewhere in the drive train. What are the usual suspects here? Dual mass flywheel?
The other problem is some sort of rumbling/grinding noise when accelerating. Only happens in fifth gear and only on the first few miles after a cold start. Sound like it comes from the gearbox. Is that a know issue with the getrag 290? Is fifth gear a 1:1 straight through gear on the getrag 290?
