[E-Type] 1.5 Brake problems

I have re-sleaved my master cylinder and slave cylinder and
put in rebuild kits. I’ve bleed the air out but on the first
pedal stroke it, it goes to the floor. one pump and its firm
mid way. Front brakes have strong pressure at the caliper,
rear are very week.
Any ideas?
I’m thinking my options are dismantle both master and slave
and check them over, or just bite the bullet and spring for
manufactured ones.
Any help would be appreciated.–

It sounds as though you still have some air in the system.
I’ve heard of people using a quart, or more, of brake fluid,
before they got all the air out. As long as there are no
leaks, anywhere, I would bleed the system again.

Hi,
Are you sure you have the rear brakes bled? If there is any
question then I would make myself a pressure bleeder and make
sure.
Cheers,

Lynn,
I’ve run about a quart of brake fluid through, cracked every
possible joint to try and find some air. I’m 99% sure there
is no air. I haven’t tried to pressure bleed it though.
Usually the pedal is a little springy if there is some air
but its very firm. Can you pressure bleed with master and a
slave cylinder in line?–

Hi Jonathan,
Sounds like you have it bled if you’ve run a quart through the
rears. Yes you can pressure bleed them, I will bleed one
circuit at a time, it’s the only way I’ve ever been able to
bleed the rears on either my '68 or '73.
Cheers,

Jon, if you have resleaved and new seals, your master and slave
should be good. If no leaks, then there may still be air in the
lines. Are you bleeding from the farthest line from the master
first?

I’m getting very little pressure at the rears, basically a
dribble, I set up remote bleeders but I don’t think that
would effect things. I started furthest from the master
cylinder but have ended up just going round and round,> if I
have good pressure at the front and not the rear would that
indicate a problem in the slave cylinder?

Thanks for the input!–
