[E-Type] 123 Dizzy setting

Hi Guys,
I need some help again.
I have just purchased a 123 Electronic Dizzy for my 67
XKE. My workshop manual does not give the advance specs
for the stock dizzy.
Can anyone give me the specs, ie, 30* at 3000 rpm? Or even
better, what about the correct setting for the NEW 123
Dizzy?
Much appreciated.

Chris,

The Jaguar service manual does show the advance curve for 4.
4.2 distributors. I don’t have mine handy, but check ag
again, it’s there.

I’m assuming that you have the standard 123 and not the 123
Tune dizzy. I used the 0 setting and the car starts and
runs so well, I haven’t bothered with trying another. As
you know, changing the curve on the is very easy once you’ve
removed the distributor from the block :>( OTOH, the 123
allows setting the curve via a laptop operated by a
passenger while the car is actually being driven.–

TKS Guys,
I don’t have access to the Jag service manual. All I have
is the Haynes manual. Please have a look and let me know
if you don’t mind and perhapse someone could suggest a
prelim setting for the 123 dizzy.
Sorry to be a nuisance.

Thanks gents,
OK great, I’ll start off with the initial setting at 0.

Thanks Drew, the info you sent is actually in the Haynes
manual. I did not even take a second look ( expecting to
be spoon fed) but it is all there. Thanks

Mine is on preset 2 since I bought it. This is the geberic

I have a S2 with no vacuum advance.

I chose setting ‘‘D’’ on my 123 (32 degrees advance at
3,600rpm). The Lucas 41207A it replaced had the 20 degree
advance weights. x2 gives 40 degrees.

The Jag 123 has 16 settings in hexadecimal, ranging from 24
degrees max at 3,000 rpm in setting ‘‘2’’ to 32 degrees max at
3,900 rpm in setting ‘‘C’’.

All settings have the same vacuum advance of 10 degrees at a
vacuum of 300mmHg

All settings have the same starting rpm for advance:1000rpm–
