[E-Type] 3.07 for sale

I just put the 3.07 ring & pinion from my 67 OTS on Ebay. They are good
gears but I just put in a CJ 5 speed with a 3.54, cams, upgraded brakes,
etc. It should finally be done in a month or so (I hope) & I’ll report to
the group how everything works.
Cheers,
Jim

Under what catagory? What’s your opening price?

Jim:
I have what I think are stock gears.
It is a 1967 FHC with 4 speed. Is the 3.07 the normal next step. I have heard that the 2.9xx? are too low. How many RPMs are dropped at 70 MPH switching from 3.54s to 3.07s?
thanks

Ron,
The Jaguar owners manuals list of RPM Vs speed vary from the early cars
to the Series Two cars, probably caused by the different tires used, 6.40
Vs 185. The E-Type manual lists the following Rpm’s at 70 MPH 3.07-2780
3.54-3221 The Series two manual does not list 70 MPH but at 80 MPH it lists
3.07-3225 3.54-3718.
I have a 3.54 gear in our 69 and a 3.07 in the 64 and there is a very
noticeable difference on the highway with the 3.07, much more relaxed. Of
course you lose some of the lower speed high gear acceleration. No doubt the
hot setup is a 3.54 gear and a 5 speed with maybe a .80 high gear.

Do you still have your 3.07 differential

Jim what is a CJ 5 Speed? I’d be interested in putting one in my 69 FHC if they work well.

Andy

CJ = Classic Jaguar

I think it has been years since Dan Mooney, CEO of CL, carried the 5 speed tranny. Not sure why he dropped it.
Craig

Dan’s pretty picky so it could be his supplier wasn’t delivering the quality Dan wanted or his supplier quit the business.

Dave- did you see that the post you are replying to is from August 2002? Doubtful that the original poster still has the differential, or even the E-Type.
