[E-Type] 3.8 oil pump drive shaft bushing removal

Any tips on removing the oil pump drive shaft bushing. I
removed the 1/4’’ bolt from the front of the engine and
tried to tap out the bushing. Do I need to have
it ‘‘pressed’’ out, or get a bigger hammer?–

It will come out with a hammer but you need to be really careful
you don’t damage it. We have a piece of round bar stock machined
up that fits perfectly into the bush to minimise damage.–

Why are you taking it out? They rarely are so worn that they need
replacing and getting it back in to the exact same spot is so
important. A good machine shop can do almost any work on a block
with it still in.

I need to have the cylinder liners replaced and since the
bushing extends below the bottom of the block, it wouldn’t
sit properly on a work surface. I’m also still trying to
find a shop in SE Michigan that can replace the liners.–

Talk to Chris at Holbrook Racing Engines or see if Roush is taking in any work.
