This will have to be replaced, but its not the cause of the charging problem.
You can’t repair the 3AW. The wire was strand of nichrome. When the
alternator runs, it heats up a bimetallic contact that turns the panel
light off. I have solid state replacements for it, but lets find your
alternator problem first.> Tracked my apparent charging problem to this. I popped it open
and it looks like there WAS a diode somewhere. I see the
remnants of a wire and a 1/16-3/16’’ bead. Anyone ever find a
solution to this thing besides a replacement? Think I have an
extra but dang if I can find it.
