[E-Type] 64 etype fuel pump follow up

I thought it would be worth noting and passing on that our
after market , in tank, fuel pump has died already. I got
the pump out of the tank and bench test it. No flow. It
makes noise but, no flow. 2 years, 50 miles, and its dead.
Some of the rubber materials were infact in rough condition
from just sitting in the tank for 2 years. The pump made
noise but no suck and no push at either end.

I will be switching over to the SU external pump and would
like to know if there is a web sight or personal pictures
of how the pump is actually positioned in the side area of
the trunk and maybe how the lines are run. I have found
the parts needed on Barretts web sight and will probably be
using there parts on the tank plate and tube that needs to
be added to our tank. If someone can tell me if that plate
is a direct replacement for the original pump with plate,
that would be helpful. Sorry for the long windedness here
but I thought folks may want to know about the short life
span of the after market, intank, fuel pumps. At least that
was our experience.

Any help is appreciated. Mark–

Just because one ‘aftermarket’ pump was bad does not make
them all bad.

Where did you get it ? Did you contact the supplier ? Even
if 2 years would be out of warranty a reputable jag
specialist might give you a replacement.

You may have sucked up some rubbish (rubber?) blocking the
tube. Did you have a filter on the intake.

It is also possible the pump mechanism has broken of course.

I have an ‘aftermarket’ in tank pump from SNG. Yes, they did
have problems one year ago when they were leaking but they
promptly sent me a new improved version when I brought it to
their attention. Going strong a year later.–

Not an answer to your request, but a site with good info.
