[E-Type] Air rail removal

Pascal-

I can glean from the list that your car is similar to mine in that most of
your emission control baggage has been removed or disconnected. My air
rails have been cut and plugged at the rear and I’d like to remove them so
as to tidy things up a bit. Is there any reason not to remove them
and what needs to be plugged if I do. (And plugged with what?)

Thanks-

Dave,

I have some hi-res photos of how I dealt with this. Let me know if you
would like me to e-mail them to you off list.

no reason not to remove them. I didn’t do it so I can’t help you there, it
looks like a small blanking plates are bolted on the head.

others should be able to tell you how to do it best

Hi Chris,

I also have a 74 e-type OTS which I bought only about a year ago. I am
trying hard to learn this car but it is a bit more complex than I expected it
would be. My wife and I also have a 74 MBG whose engine & compartment has
been completely redone plus new paint. We will work on the interior of the B
this winter. This car is like a Tonka toy in comparison to the e-type. I’m
sure you’ve found the same.

I noticed your offer to send high resolution pics of how you resolved the air
rail issue. I visited your sight and the “new” v12 looks wonderful. I would
also like to get rid of as much extraneous stuff as possible. I wondered
about the air rails. If you would kindly send me some pics off-list I would
very much appreciate it.

Best regards,

Chris,

I’ve been considering this since my air pump went south. If you would be so
kind as to share the pix/procedure with me as well, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
