[E-Type] Clean fuel delivery

I have found that the original fuel filter clogs up in a about a year due to
sediment in the fuel tank. I changed the filter last year, and now when I
accelerate hard the carbs are starved for fuel and there’s a hesitation.
I’ve ordered some more fuel filters from the regulars, but wondered if
there’s a better solution to this likely common problem.
Has anyone installed an inline filter between the fuel tank and the fuel
pump? I’m thinking of installing one of those clear plastic cheapies just
to avoid the hassle of having to order a new, original filter.
Any thoughts?

Randy!
You need to clean the bottom of the tank, unscrew the bottom
filter from the tank, and open up the top so you can reach
in to get the dirt out. You can get all the replacement
gaskets from terrysjag.com.

Don’t forget by now you have a lot of dirt in the fuel pump,
the longer you wait the more work you have by having to clean
the whole system out.

I think you need to go back to the source of the problem…your
tank. Drain it, pull the sump, check the tank screen. Inspect the
tank, clean it, everything should be fine. I change filters maybe
once every three or four years.
