[E-Type] Could someone help dissect his car needs?

Hi - thanks in advance for the coaching. Could I ask for
one experienced eyes on this car? The driver side door has
about 1/2 sag, bonnet has a couple dents that are hard
to see in the picture. Missing one seat. Area under driver
side door caught my eye, metal work not crisp so assuming
that needs attention. Everywhere else seemed solid.

Engine condition is said to be healthy but I’ve not heard
her run.–

That car shows up as ‘sold’ but perhaps you know that.

Really hard to tell a lot from photos as so much of the
condition of an E-Type project is about the rust or lack
thereof.

If you mean the driver’s door sags a 1/2 inch - that may
just be a worn hinge pin. If so, a pretty straight-forward
fix (had to do this myself not long ago). OTOH, it could
be a sign of an A pillar weakened by corrosion. Only an
inspection would tell.

I like all E-Types but a Series 3 2+2 can cost just as much
to restore as a Series 1 OTS in similar condition, yet it
may be hard not to be upside down on dollars restoring a
2+2 as needy as this one (if that matters).

BTW - This forum splits up long links so you may need to
use a URL shortener like tinyurl, Google shortener or such:

The issue always is hidden rust. Rockers, cowl, engine
frames , floors. Look very carefully with borescope if
possible. Use a magnet to check for excessive bondo, sight
down the panels, bonnet to door gaps. Mechanically, these
car are simple and relatively easy to repair with good
parts availability. They rust everywhere and often are
shoddily repaired.–
