[E-Type] Discount for list members

a discount from any parts suppliers?

Paul (and all list members),

Forgive the slightly commercial nature of this post, but it is a direct
response to a suggestion that a number of you have made regarding discounts
for list members.

I now offer all the new parts you could ever need for an E Type Jaguar, and
am currently amassing a significant used parts inventory as well. I like to
think that my prices are already competitive, given the high quality of the
products I offer, and it would be difficult therefore to offer much of a
percentage discount to any particular group. That said, I very much want to
make a gesture to list members, and I have come up with the following idea.

I will cover all mainland US UPS shipping and handling costs on any order
placed by an E Type list member that exceeds $150 in value. I like to think
list members would also take some comfort in the knowledge that I only sell
new parts that I consider to be of sufficiently high quality to be used on
my own restorations. This is significant - as there are many aftermarket
offerings out there that I wouldn’t dream of putting on my own cars.

In addition to the above, any list member that has attained the age of 60
and still owns an E Type, will get an additional 5% off any new part that I
sell - everything from carb kits to 5 speeds. Sorry Bjarn, you’re just too
young, my friend

Within the next week or so, I will have a used parts section on my webpage.
People will be able to use detailed search engines to find the precise part
they need, including accurate descriptions, prices, availability,
rebuilding costs, etc. It will basically give everyone access to my
complete inventory of used parts, and list members will automatically
qualify for a 5% discount off all advertised prices - in addition to the
free shipping and handling already mentioned.

This is not a sales gimmick, it is a sincere offer to my friends on the E
Type list.

Best Regards,

Dan Mooney

Thanks Dan!!
Now I’m real happy to be 62 and have a E.

Dan, I have a bunch of parts for Series III E. Rather than taking them to
the dump, do you want them? Mostly AC parts (compressor, brackets, etc) and
an air pump.

This is an uncommonly generous offer, particularly in light of your
already uncommon generosity with technical advice and help. Now all I
need is an E-type Jaguar so that I can take advantage of it

  1. If a member is 120 years old, does he/she qualify for a 10% discount?

Hi Mike, actually anyone who is 120 years old (and can prove membership of
this list) gets a free 100 point E Type with every MSD system he purchases

  1. If we got 15 list members all of which were 60 or plus years together
with the 5% off for a group buy from you, would we be able to get a total
    of 75% off?

Er… no. That one seems like to much of a possibility!

See you in 16 months Mike

Dan,
I am now in the process of acquiring a fake ID. Don’t let my looks deceive

Hi Eric,

You are not the first person who has claimed to be older than you are today

I sold a complete MSD ignition system to a very youthful sounding 61 year
old earlier today

BTW, what’s the matter with your E Type Eric? Haven’t heard from you in a

I have not thought about senior citizen discounts, sounds like a good idea. I
will offer clubs substantial discounts on both new, used , reproduction and
original parts just ask for the part that fits within your budget and we will
ship it to you straight away. No BS just good quality parts a great
prices…Sorry that sometimes people relate quality to price but look at our
brake rotors BREMBO the best around. Try to get a better price. We have been
importing containers for 20 years now and have had a handful of returns.

I don’t know about that … I’d be willing to trade any and all
Old guy breaks/discounts that I’m getting in exchange for
what the Young guys are getting!

Also I think there is something wrong with the metal in my E-Type
as it doesn’t seem to be a very strong Babe Magnet anymore.
I swear, my old MGA back in the early sixties was a much stronger
Babe Magnet … perhaps my E has so much rust that its lost
most of its magnetic properties by now? Anyone else have this
problem with their E-Types?

Way to go Bob! My first Jag was a 64 FHC. What a screamer, had a lot of
British cars since, but none better. Do you think I could buy it back for
the 2K I sold it for in '73?.
