Hi guys - On my S1 4.2 FHC, I need a pic of the door open at the
top rear corner of the window frame where the two seals join. I
think trouble could be brewing there on fit issues. a friend with
a 2+2 says his window frame on his 67 does not have a seal, while
someone else has mentioned that he had to remove his vertical seal
in order to get a proper fit as the door closed.
Was wondering what guys were doing with those - do you extend the
two seal and cut them diagonally and then glue them, OR extend
them and overlap them? Or cut them right a the corner? thanks
for any pics or explanation.–

If you’re talking about the seal that fits into the slot in the
frame, it’s continuous and you just slit the lip at the very
corner.–

Yes, the A-post seal is a completely different section to
the top frame seal.
The way I did mine was to notch the A-post seal so it
reaches the top. The upper seal stops at the end of the frame.
There is a lot of variation in the type of A-post seal
supplied. Some are too bulbous and cause jamming (they are
probably intended for saloon cars). The ones I found work
best are quite thin and flat.
The other thing is maybe the frame needs adjustment. There
are shims on top of the door itself that govern the actual
height of the frame in the door.–
