Could you keep me in the loop as you make this conversion? I
will need to do the same thing to my '64 if I’m ever going to drive
it again after restoring it. I only have one arm and between
shifting, steering, eating, drinking my coffee, texting,
reprograming the tom-tom, and making hand signals-jesters to my
fellow drivers, I’m going to need all the help I can get. ;^) I’M
KIDDING! But not about the one arm, you do not know how much you
will miss something, or how much you use something, until it is
taken away.

Dick,
Have you had a look at the E-Type fabs website? Uryk does the whole
kit including mounting brackets etc.
The kit is an electric motor set up and once fitted you would not
know it was there. The set up is variable so you can set it to
switch off once you reach a desired speed and it will cut in again
below that speed.

Phil,
Someone or perhaps multiple sellers in the UK are offering an electric
power steering unit. IIRC its a generic unit that has been adapted.
Small and fits on the interior just below the steering column. I’ve
seen several write ups about it and know it has been done. Here’s
some info on it: http://www.ezpowersteering.nl/index.php?p=1&lang=us
