[E-Type] Easy On or Robbins convertible top

After making some calls to local installers and one internet
distributer (autotop-superstore) I am hearing that either of the
above manufacturers is acceptable. Can anyone vouch for them or
give some insight?

The Stay Fast price from autotop is $269 for the Easy On and $325
for the Robbins so either one seems pretty reasonable (cheap) to me.
Andyzak - Terry’s price is a bit higher at $400 but I don’t know
who makes that one.–

Jim,

I can vouch for Robbins tops as this was the top that most cars got
when the original wore out (usually after only a few years). I have
only heard that the Easy On was comparable. I have no experience
with them.

I have a brand new Robbins top still in the box that I will let go
for less than either of the two you mentioned. If you are
interested contact me off line.

I have a Robbins top that came with my basket case. I installed it with
no problems and it fits fine.

It’s a black vinyl top with the permanent vinyl rear window. Interior
is tan.

Seems to me I saw them listed on the Moss Motors site for the e-type for
around $225.

I just had a R stayfast top installed by a local shop. I’m not at all
impressed with the fit

Along the seam from front to back: material lays smoothly on one side and
is trying to gather on the other side.

Along the seam above the rear window: same as above.

I was told the materials were under different tension when they were
joined. Going back next week to trade some material for a pound of flesh!

Is that the fault of the top or the shop?
Jim Michael, 67 ots w/ Robbins top that fits great…after I had a second
guy correct the mistakes made by the first installer who was evidently a
jerk.
