[E-Type] Electrical Hornest

Hello Jag Lovers
I have a 1973 Jaguar E Type coupe that is need of a electrical
hornest. Does anyone know where I might be able to get this hornest
and once I get it is there a mechanic that I can take it to to have
it put on?–

Brian:

I assume you mean harness? If so, recent suggestions of suppliers have
been:

www.britishwiring.com

www.riwire.com

www.thewiringharness.co.uk

www.classicjaguar.com

I got my harnesses from Classic Jaguar. As for a suggestion for a mechanic,
it would be helpful to know the general area where you live. There are
probably listers in your area who could then make a suggestion.

As a result of the listings I just purchased a harness from
Autosparks in the UK. Even with the postage (65.00) it was still
about half the price of a stateside harness and the price included
the bonnet, horn, and fan harnesses. It fit well and was very easy
to install. It also included most of the grommets that are needed,
but you will want to save the connectors from your old harness.

Chuck, does the wiring harness you purchased from autosparks look like the original factory wiring harness?

Larry,
Yes, I think it looks more original than others I have used. While
the wire sizes are the same it is less bulky and has left more room
behind the dash for the de-misters and the center hinge.

Brian:

I live in Western PA, so I cannot help you with any specific suggestions in
your area. However, in addition to a shop that is knowledgeable about older
Jaguars (typically not the dealer, although they may know someone), there
are also shops that specialize in automotive electrical systems (this type
of shop may be a supplier and/or repair facility). I think either type of
shop should be able to help you with the installation of a harness.

I am located in Long iland, Ny but I travel from Atlanta
to Ny several times a month so if you would have any suggestions on
a mechanic in either one of those states that would help me out a
great deal.

in your opinion how much would you say that an electrical harness
would take away from the value of an other wise mint e type? Please
give me an example in dollar amounts.–

Brian,
Unless the car is a Pebble Beach concours winner, my guess
would be approximately $0.–
