[E-Type] End of an era for me

Well, after owning my '67 E-Type OTS for over 30 years, I am
selling it due to poor health. I recently had the leaky carbs
rebuilt by a pro; but I realized that when I start having others
fix it for me, it’s no longer my hobby. (I did the rebuild 7 years
ago).

So although I still can drive my 2001 automatic (XKR) I will no
longer be visiting this forum.

Good luck to each of you; my E-Type ownership was (mostly) a great
experience.

Sorry to hear that Karl, but I fear that day might arrive for many of
us eventually.

Good luck with your health issues and have memorable drives in the XKR.On Sat, Apr 30, 2011 at 2:13 PM, Gokar kmemoli3@hotmail.com wrote:

Karl,
Haven’t seen you around much in the last few years, good to hear from
you. Sorry to hear about the health and that you’re departing with
your E but do understand, really! Good luck to you and the new owner.

Karl, stay positive with your health issues. I understand when you
say that having others work on your ‘‘baby’’, it is no longer yours.
Most of the joy is in fixing and driving. All the best!!

If you go the Heritage website, there is a link and pictures of an
XK original owner that still owns and drives his roadster, and he
is 100 years of age. Karl, I don’t know your age but don’t give
up on us just yet.–

I KNEW I liked you for a reason, Lynn! That’s my fave
quatrain from the Rubaiyat…at least it’s the 2nd fave of
Fitzgerald’s translations!

My fave was the 5th edition’s version:

''And when like her, oh, Saki, you shall pass
Among the Guests star-scatter’d on the grass
And in your joyous errand reach the spot
where I made one–turn down and empty Glass!

TAMAM…

Karl, though I never had the pleasure of talking to you,
here, I wish you good travels!–

Good luck with the sale Karl. Sorry to hear of health problems and
hope they are only temporary.

I’m in the process of selling mine so I know how you feel.

One sales avenue you might explore. I was exhibiting mine at a
concours this last weekend and was talking to the representative of
Worldwide Auctioneers, the company that was holding an auction in
conjunction with the concours. He took pictures of my car and
took my information and said he would contact me if he had someone
who might be interested. The idea is they have bidders from all
over the world in person and on the phone at these auctions and
sometimes a buyer won’t get the car they want in the auction and
ask if the auction house knows of anything similar on the market.
If they have knowledge of yours they might be able to facilitate a
sale, and of course they would charge the usual buyer’s commission.–

are you by any chance the guy who was talking my buddy from
Shreveport at the concours? He said there were some helpful

drainage and where to get chrome work done at Keels and
