[E-Type] Formula race car on 101!

Sort of off the subject-but I was startled today to see what looked all the
world like a bright Red Formula (?) race car driving down Highway 101
someplace north of San Marcos Pass.
He had no license plates that I could see (he was going South and I was
going North). Traffic in general was doing 80 and he was in the high speed lane-
Driver was wearing a helmet. I can not imagine what he was doing, but I bet
it was fun!

An Ariel Atom perhaps?

More like this-I don’t know what all the Formula cars look like, but I know
it wasn’t F1.

If it had a nose like that, it wasn’t a Formula Ford or a
Vee, More likely a Formula B/Continental/Super Vee. Did you
notice the engine configuration? Were the exhausts out the
one side or not? I BET he was havin’ fun! I have ALWAYS
wanted to drive a good Formula car up in the Rockies!–

I dunno-I was driving in the other lane of a widely divided interstate so I
couldn’t spend much time looking at him. It was startling tho.
