I screwed up. I installed my back axle before I installed the fuel
line bulkhead connectors and fuel line and there seems to be no way
that I can get my arms up to reach the connector. Can I partially
lower the rear axle and still get access to these connectors?
Thanks,

Kevin, You didn’t state which model/year you have, but
on the S1 you can reach the gas line retaining clips
from underneath the car with the rear suspension
mounted. It helps if you have a pretty good idea where
the clips are, as you can’t see them IIRC. Pretend
your on a date and just feel around.

Sorry about not mentioning which model I have. Its a '61 OTS. The
connector I am trying to fit is the one that bolts through the rear
bulkhead into the spare wheel well.

Kevin, Interesting, as the car I was referring to is
also a 61 OTS…small world. I don’t recall that
fitting being a problem to install, but can’t really
remember the details. Can’t you access the front of
the rear bulkhead from underneath the car? If so, it
should not be a problem???

Kevin,
I just did that task a few months ago on my '61 OTS 875423. I
don’t recall that it was difficult. I heat-attached the nylon fuel
line to the barbed fitting, and then pushed it through the rear
bulkhead. It’s a two-person job to tighten the nut - one to hold
the fitting in the boot, and one to tighten the nut.
The nut is directly above you as you slide under the car behind the
right rear wheel.
Good luck!–

I’m no EE but from what I know of electronics that sounds like hogwash
to me. I’d be curious to see if any of our EE friends here can
extract anything from that to make it appear to be anything more than
a gimmick.

Saw this in advertized Popular Mechanics this month. Anyone looked at
them? The site sounds pretty convincing.

OK - time to chime in.
I am an EE. And yup, this is hogwash.
The forum already has plenty on this. The short of it is,
any ignition system that gets you the most complete
combustion in a manner compatible with the dynamics of the
compression stroke is gonna be as good as you can get.
IMHO, save your money for a good set of conventional plugs
with a trigger system that makes the timing stay put.
Pertronix with a spare set of conventional points just in
case. . .

Our cars are quite close as mine is 875443. Anyway, the problem I
have is that I cannot squeeze my arm between the axle cage and the
rear bulkhead wall to reach up to attach the nut so I’m thinking
that I can remove the mount bolts and lower the axle assembly a few
inches. Is this possible or do I have to disconnect the trailing
arms, prop shaft, cables , etc, etc?

and, everybody knows they can’t make a noticable difference without the speed stickers added. I knew it was a fake as soon as I realized the ad said nothing about the speed stickers.

Kevin,
I recall that I did this job with the rear on stands and the right
rear wheel removed. I had someone hold the fitting in place in the
boot while I threaded the nut. Other than that there were no big
issues.
You shouldn’t have to disassemble the IRS to attach the fuel
fitting. Do you have a friend with medium to small hands who is
mechanically adept? Someone who can thread a nut without it being
a big hassle?
You might be able to do it if someone can hold the fitting while
you fit the nut. Depends on the size of your hands, I guess.
Cheers,
David
