[E-Type] Hang on Baby!

Almost lost the lower chrome trim running along the windscreen
bottom. Just popped out of our '65.
What’s the trick to holding that securely within the grooves of the
weatherstrip? Seems as though it doesn’t slip into the grooves far enough.
If need be, a little dab of weatherstrip sealant seems in order, do you
concur?

See Ya

That means your rubber seal is shot. It should hold the chrome allby itself.

The strip could be bent (either during removal or recrhoming). A
windcreen fitter showed me a useful tip a few years ago. Hold each end
of the chrome and GENTLY bounce it so that you get more of a bend
following the curvature of the screen. Be careful as if you put too
much pressure on the strip you will crack the chrome. I did it and it
worked very well. Be patient.–

I had the same thing happen to me - as I was driving along the highway at
about 55-60, the chrome strip at the bottom of the winscreen blew off. Then
a few weeks later, the top strip blew off. I tend to concur that it has
something to do with the seals being old, since mine are original (from '67)
and pretty dried out.

Is is a big deal to replace these seals? I.e. do you have to remove the
windscreen?
