Pete,

3.8, blue; 4.2, green.

I never found a source for the color filters, I changed over to
blue LED bulbs and a strip of blue LEDs for the switch label panel.

The green color strip is available for the switch panel, at least
for a series II.–

John,

Right, I got a blue and a green panel filter strip. I meant the
little balloons that cover the bulbs inside the instruments.

Jerry

PS if anybody needs a green filter strip, let me know I may have
one in one of my boxes.–

Pete,
I believe 3.8L cars were blue and the rest green. As far as the
little shrouds, I’ve read that the gauge rebuilder, can’t remember the
name but in New Mexico, has them to put into rebuilt gauges but will
not sell them.

I went with red. Like the instrument panel of an aircraft. Reminds me of my flying days. …sigh…

Single engine land. And I owned a Bushby Mustang II for a while. Fast little two-place.

Lloyd, I know nothing about planes. The name of your plane
interested me and I googled it. All I can say is a very cool
looking plane and fast also. Very cool.–

If nothing else, you can make them!

Search for Delta transparent glass paint. It comes in a variety of
colors including red.

Just clean the bulbs with isopropol alcohol then dip them in the paint.

I use it to make colored indicator bulbs for toy train applications and
it works great.

In reply to a message from George Cohn sent Sat 24 Sep 2011:

Testors also makes a line of transparent paints that I’ve used.

But remember that most LEDs emit only a single colour…so
painting them won’t work. The white ones have a fluorescent
coating, but even it emits only a few colours (like
fluorescent lights).

Red, blue and green LEDs are available on ebay, or from
electronics places like Jameco and Digikey. Be sure to note
the brightness specs, which vary by orders of magnitude,
generally higher price for brighter.–
