[E-Type] JET HOT Sterling and Repaired Exhaust Flanges

Here’s are the pictures of the repaired and coated exhaust
manifolds:

The flanges, as well as a crack, were repaired with ‘‘Cast
Iron’’ welding wire. Time will tell how well they endure…

Abner, Nice work. You not only rescued a pair of
exhaust manifolds, you made them pretty in the
process! I also just received my exhaust
manifolds back from J-H (Sterling) and took a
somewhat similar approach to yours in that I
polished the front side of the manifolds and only
lightly touched up the back (engine) side. A lister
(Doug?) had previously said that he had his
manifolds professionally polished for about $60?
before sending them to J-H. If so, that was
probably the best money he ever spent as
polishing the manifolds is NASTY, time consuming
work and they do look much better having been
polished than not.

Ray,
Thank you for your kind remarks…

Also just for General Information-
Here’s a little note that I posted to another lister who had
emailed:

The shop working on my car mentioned Jet Hot some time

ago, telling me that it was a kind of high-heat powder
coating process especially for applications like this. I had
been prepared to paint them with Eastwood’s Black Manifold
paint, and had already bought a 1/2pint can
As work on the car proceeded, I started to repair my
manifolds and wound up looking for Jet Hot information on
the internet… Finding: http://www.jet-hot.com/ I
filled out the form on the internet site of Jet Hot and
received amazing service! To my surprise they mailed me: a
catalogue, a video tape, & a quote for my headers! The quote
also included a 10% internet discount, and for all of this:
gross price (including freight in & out.) was $170.00
So off they went…Oops! I forgot to include a note asking
that the threaded flanges remain uncoated…I called…no
problem…notation was added to my quote number… and
there you have it!

Here’s ONE FINAL THOUGHT !

Jet Hot Indicates that the surface temperature of the
Manifolds are reduced by 300 degrees (F)One graph shows a
reduction to a 500-800 degree range…Now is that sufficient
to perhaps allow a more conventional Gloss Black Coating to
be applied…and endure…would the Gloss Black hinder the
heat reduction?

Same experience I had with them several years ago. Very good
communication, fast service and some thousands of miles later, my
Sterling Silver manifolds look like the day I put them back on.

I didn’t bother with any polishing on mine so the finish is an “orange
peel” texture but they still look great!

NAYYY, just a satisfied customer.

I’ve seen this on this list for years and on no other. What exactly does NAYYY mean?

No Affiliation, Yadda, Yadda, Yadda?
