My goodness, what is the funny looking shiny thing around the rear window. That funny shiny thing between the glass and the top, any one else see that or did I have too much LDS in the 60’s?

It’s the elusive strip of unobtanium that cost $5,000.
The hard top was $100.–

Lloyd,
Ummm, could be. It’s “LSD”, unless you got religion back then. 8-P

Didn’t know Robin Williams was in a Start Wreck movie?

Had to be Star Trek IV - The Voyage Home.–

You and mister Spock apparently while at Berkley! You thought no one
would catch that malapropism from Star Trek, didn’t you?
For the bonus round, which movie was it?

I thought it was Mr Spock too, until I saw the movie again. It was doc whats-his-name, the physician “Bones”.

On the episode of ST, where the ‘Horta’’ (rock creatures) were
having their ‘eggs’ mined -and the folks doing so had no idea it
was eggs they were mining!- and one was injured by a phaser blast?
When they figured out it was just protecting its young, Bones was
asked to fix it up…to which he blurted out, ‘‘Dammit, Jim! I’m a
doctor, not a geologist!’’
When he (natch) successfully treated the Horta-mommy he was so
pleased with hisself he said, ‘‘I’m beginning to think I can cure a
rainy day!’’

Doug, If the prices for the detachable hardtops continue to escalate, I may be able to recoup the cost of restoring mine. If a person were to buy a sorry example, like the stripped one recently advertised on eBait, I doubt that they could restore it for $4 -$5K unless they had all the chrome lying around.

I still can’t understand why nobody makes a chrome trim for the rear window. Seems there are a good number of people who want it.–

There were only a few hundred of those hardtops made. Not much of
