[E-Type] Mis-matched Stromberg gaskets?

Hi Guys,
I’ve just had the Stromberg carbs off my 70 2eries 2. On reassembly I noticed a crack in one of the insulator
blocks between the carbs and manifold. I tried to order 2 new blocks and the gaskets that go each side of
them. I was told that the gaskets are not available and not needed, just the insulators will suffice, and as they
look like 3/16 inch thick gasket material anyway, I’ll go with that advice. What I’ve noticed though is that on
the old insulators there is a single 3/8ish slot about 1/2 inch below centerline to clear an (idle circuit?) drilling in
the carbs. The new insulator blocks have an extra matching slot above and opposite the centerline which lines
up with another (air?, fuel?) drilling in the carbs. What’s really confusing is, of the old gaskets which were each
side of the insulator block, one is double slotted like the new insulator, two are single slotted and one has no
slots at all. Any ideas anyone? I’m thinking the new double slotted insulators look right, but the car seemed to
run fine previous to removing the carbs.
Thanks.

Alan,
Don’t know the answer to your question (SUs are my poison),
but I thought I would generate a message just to bump your
posting to the top again - maybe one of the resident experts
who may not have seen your posting will have a reply?–
