[E-Type] More eBay stuff

I just posted a notice about the NOS heater matrix for Series I/II . . .

I should have looked further before posting. Someone (jagwrench) is apparently parting out a Series I E-Type. If you are looking for hard-to-find bits and pieces, they may be showing up on eBay.

And Item Number 2482130685 is a hard top shell (different seller). This appears to have all the rear window chrome. I don’t know enough about the eaerly E’s to say if it is original or an after-market item. It’s just posted, too. At $611 with a reserve.

The top in question appears to have a big chunk of the chrome
missing and some of the rest appears damaged. Also the ad says that
the rubber is in excellent condition, but the pics clearly show
that the bottom seal is badly damaged.

I have emailed the lister for more info on this but haven’t heard
back from him/her/it. I noticed that the top is located in Newport
Beach which is near by. If the lister contacts me, I will make an
effort to mosey up there and check it out.

Well I got a chance to mosey up to Newport and view the hardtop. It
is complete and exactly as described in the auction. The picture on
ebay made the rear window chrome appear to be damaged (section
missing), but the chrome is in great shape as far as dings, dents
and scratches are concerned. THe apparent missing piece was just a
shadow in the picture. It even had the chrome clips that join the
two chrome surrounds.

The headliner is perfect and original. I was surprised that it
wasn’t tarnished by water leaks like so many others are. All of the
rubber is present and appears to be original.

I also got a chance to see a very original SII roadster. It was
obviously a very low mileage car as it has the original hides, arm
rest, etc. and in really good good shape. I, being a SII owner
myself, was delighted to see such an original car. All the original
parts were there in their original place! The owner is willing to
sell it if anyone is interested. (I have my plate full.)

Thank you Richard.
I have been watching that hardtop, as it is like the one that came
with ‘‘Ruby’’.
Are you going to bid on it?–

I have actually been biting my lip on this one. I really want a
hard top but I don’t know why. I’m pretty sure I will always go in
roadster mode anyhow. But I really want one! I think in the end the
thought of spending somewhere near $2,500 for a top restored may be
the final weight.
