[E-Type] Mystery Wire Connection

Hi All,

There is an open wire connection in the wiring behind the
gauges, left side.

Please see picture…

Does anyone recognize what it is for?

Thanks,

Bob, I also have these wires on my 1970 SII OTS…they show
up in the fuse box area( as per yr pic but without the
connector ) , in the area of the steering shaft, and also
near the glove box. The wire is of heavy gauge, and the
outer fabric cover is heavily faded but might have been
red,or green or blue or some mix thereof. These wires go in
and out of the harness, and after lots of continuity testing
do not connect to anything. This is the only part of the
harness that I did not replace, and for a while these wires
were very annoying!!–

Bob it seems to be orange/red. If so it is a redundant fog lamp
wire. You should be able to get a trace from there to the multi-pin
plug at the bonnet.–

In reply to a message from bobsxke sent Sun 13 Oct 2013:

Bob; That may be a RB wire, goes from the # 2 side light spade to
the #5 fuse. My new loom has it. That is the only RB wire that I
can find on the wire diagram. The new loom has an additional RB
wire that I find no need for and it apparently has no connection to
the one to the #5 fuse. I can only assume it may have been for
another application.–

Just went thru this Bob. That wire is for fog light’s and is left
unconnected. It runs to the #6 pin on the front light socket.

Thanks Guys!

Now that is team work!!! I can now rest and not worry about
this connection needing a ‘‘home’’. I will leave it alone and
be happy!

Have a nice Sunday!
