Been trying to find a Fender Jaguar for YEARS: I’d have to
sell the REAL jaguar to afford any decent one!

Nice catch!–

I remember when I was looking for a starter hollow body
guitar (under $400-500 at the time). I checked out an Ibanez
hollow body on line (good, if not very good to excellent
reviews) before I went to the center to possibly buy it.

Checked it out, nice finish, nice sound (bluesy, jazz
sound), and fair price–general asking price for it. ‘‘Let
me think about it,’’ I said. The sales guy said ‘‘I’ll throw
one of these crate amps, a guitar stand and the case at the
price.’’ ‘‘Let me think about it,’’ and walked out asked for
his card.

About a week later, I came back. I said, ‘‘Hey, so-and-so.
That offer still stand for the Ibanez?’’ He said ‘‘Nope.’’

Couldn’t help but to agree with the guy. Still have my
Ibanez acoustic, though. Very cool sounding–electric
guitars.–

That’s the sound that I like.

About 7 or 8 yrs ago I bought a small Ibanez practice amp for
my oldest son who was about 16 at the time. Gave him that
along with a nice Mexican Stratocaster for Christmas. The amp
is still going strong and he has played the finish of the
fretboard on the Strat.–

Disks get it? Fretty hands wanna know!!!

Oh man Paul, talk about waking the dead. That was 7 years ago! A lot has happened since then, no I did not buy a 420S but I did end up buying a Standel 520C, higher end model, cherry mahogany. It was almost mint, so nice that I rarely took it out and as a result didn’t play it much, I sold it last November for just about what I paid for it, $2500. Since then I bought a 2015 made in Mexico Fender Telecaster for $500 and a 2016 Gibson Les Paul Tribute with P90s for $700. The latter is a nice guitar but fugly, I bought it with the intention of stripping and refinishing it in cherry burst. I lean heavily toward Gibsons, also own a 2016 339 Studio and a '97 Blueshawk, still have my two Harptone-made acoustics, one a 6 the other 12-string (Harptone made the Standels). Been playing a lot, especially since retiring in April 2018, doing a lot of jams.

Lastly, obligatory E-Type content - my '67 OTS is doing just fine.

I’ll post a pic of the 520C in the Pub, it was very pretty.

Along with a current thread–and many before–that seems to be an issue with Jags AND axes…:grimacing:

My guitar bud just got the Holy Grail of Guildom, a 612: it’s one of maybe 10, known to exist out of the approximately 20 made (two were for John Denver).

He “stole” it for $7500, and guess what?

We play the shit outta it… IT’S A DAMN GUITAR!

:smirk:

I am still perplexed as to why one would not play a gorgeous guitar, or drive a gorgeous Jag.

Nothing personally aimed at you, or anyone else, but… ah dun geddit.

I can see both sides, there is more to my story but your eyes would glaze over. The short version though is it didn’t take long for buyer’s remorse to set in with this purchase and in the end I am very happy with the two replacements that cost me only half the $$.

Been there, misspent THAT!

If yer ever in these parts, you’ll hafta test drive Don’s 612!
