[E-Type] ~OT~ Just Curious

I saw that our fellow poster, KenAsh, is an admitted old ‘‘SCCA’er’’
(road racing): I’m wondering just how many, on both sides of the
pond, are also old road racers?

See my hand waving?

Raced a Datsun B210 in CASC (Canadian version of SCCA) back
in the mid 70’s. Discovered that I was talentless, sold the
remains of the car and got my E-Type. After that I became a
serious track worker and race groupie. I loved the
atmosphere and still miss it.–

Formula Vee’s & Continentals in the Southeast before the kids were
born. Lived 40 minutes from Road Atlanta. Regualar at Charlotte,
Savannah & Sebring. Wife watched me t-bone some fool just after
coming under the bridge at Atlanta (maybe 80mph). Had to cut me
out of the car and ride the ambulance down to the quack shack. She
wasn’t too into it after that???–

Never did race, but I pitted for a guy racing an Opel Kadett in
SCCA Showroom Stock at Summit Point, West By God. Much fun was had
by all.–
