Can someone tell me what the part is called that is mounted to the
heat shield and sits behind the three brake fluid bottles on a 69
OTS? Also, what does it do? Thanks Dennis–

Xk’s unlimited, page 198, It’s name is the Brake/Clutch reservoir
shield. For the 196p with no power steering it’s part number
C18695 $83.39 and with A/C and power steering C30735 $95.16.
I would make one out of stainless steel before I buy one. The
insulation material is readily available.
Hope this helps.–

A stainless steel cookie sheet from the kitchen supplies area of
WalMart would be a good source. A good aircraft-quality metal
snips from Sears to cut to size and a bench vice and hammer to make
the bends would finish out the project.–

You mean the a/c resistor? A green tube about 3" long? It is used to
control the speed of the a/c blower.

Brad,
Isn’t there a resistor mounted on some of the later cars for the AC
on the heat shield? If so I wonder if this is what he is inquiring
about?
Cheers,
Lynn

Another option if the heat shield is needing replacement is to
consider John Farrell, his include a very authentic insulation
material as well. NAYYY

Thanks to all who responded.I should have described it better. It
was the A/C resistor. The terminal end broke off and I soldered it
back on, But I wasn’t sure what it was. My A/C is not hooked up
anyway. Thanks again to all, Dennis–
