[E-Type] Photos of FHC boot hardura and insulating felt

Hello guys

Since I have my rusty fuel tank out for replacement (an
original tank has been donated to me by the extremely
generous Andrew Bowie from Adelaide-a big thank you to
Andrew), I want to improve the ensure I fit the correct
hardura and felt. The S2 parts manual shows the following:

BD.20339 Rubberised Felt under Petrol Tank
BD.29258 Hardura, on front face of Spare Wheel Well
BD.29259 Hardura, on rear face of Spare Wheel Well
BD.29260 Hardura, over Petrol Tank

None of this exists in my car. I have purchased a roll of
black Hardura and some rubberised felt but need pictures
or dimensions of the above bits. Any help gratefully
appreciated. The Hardura ove petrol tank looks pretty
clear as I found some picture on the net. However, the
other parts are more problematic. In particular, I do not
know if the Hardura on the front and rear faces of the
spare wheel well extends behind the fuel tank, or it
literally is just the spare wheel well.–

‘‘BD.20339 Rubberised Felt under Petrol Tank’’

The purpose of this piece is to absob water that will leak
into the hatch, rundown under the tank and hence rust out
the bottom.

Since it doesn’t show, I think it’s much better to use some
closed cell foam rubber soaked in LPS3 inhibitor or similar.

Same with the donut ring around the tank sump.–

There are some pictures in the various E-Type books that
show the boot harduras, which are particular to the FHC &
2+2. One pic is on Page 168 of Haddocks book. I will send
you another off line that shows the part of the hardura on
top of the tank and the front face of the boot.

Thanks for the responses

I managed to find some good pictures on the Moss Jaguar
website where Angus has very kindly uploaded a lot of
images of unrestored USA cars being dismantled prior to
restoration.

They do confirm that that the Hardura on the front face of
the spare wheel well does extend all the way along the
transverse length ie from wheel arch to wheel arch. Also
good pics of the Hardura on the top of the fuel tank.

Still looking for pics of the Hardura on the rear face of
the spare wheel well.

Interestingly some of the pics show that there may be some
sort of sound deadening material on the boot floor under
the fuel tank (perhaps Flintkote) however can’t find a
reference in the spare parts catalogue. The pictures also
show that the piece of rubberised felt under the fuel tank
is quite small, a square of perhaps 10’‘x10’’–
