Stop, put it in gear with the clutch in. Then SLOWLY let the clutch out. It
should come out at least a couple inches before it starts to engage. That is the
way to tell if it is adjusted right and catching correctly. If so, then it has
tobe the tranny.

Thanks for the additional detail - your description is consistent with the
operation of my clutch. I’ll post back when I can confirm the exact
problem; I have 2 or 3 other projects going so it might take me a while :-(.
And Jack T., thanks for the tip about putting the trans. in neutral before
removing the case cover. That might have been a “D’OH!” moment.
