[E-Type] Problems Searching Archive

Tried searching the archive a few mins ago. It asked me to sign-on, so I
used my ID and password that I have set up for this list. Didn’t recognize
me. Am I to assume that I need another sign-on to search the archives??

Les,
No, that doesn’t require a separate sign-on. I think the
server is just busy or something. Happens sometimes. Try again
later.–

If you want to access the full text of results from a search, you
need to be Registered in the Forums with Jag-lovers. Being a list
member only won’t work as the Forusm have no way of telling who you
are - plus the Lists don’t have a password anyway.

Once you’ve registered and joined the 27,000+ others, you can
access the full archives (620,000+ posts) back to prehistoric times
as well as use the forums if you want (these give post access to
ALL the lists without having to join each individually as you would
normally).

This note appears on the Search page if you aren’t a current Forum
member.

‘For full access to our Archive database and some other enhanced
facilities, you need to Register with us. Until you do. you’ll be
unable to read in full any of the search results and archive
extracts in the results will be limited to 100 characters only.’

Hope that helps.

Yes, you need another sign on, your computer must accept cookies, and you get
a different password. Yoou must also sign on to the archives within three
weeks of getting the password is also required.

Ask me how I know all this after trying it for a few months and getting
nowhere.

Richard,
Interesting. I don’t have to sign on, or enter a password.
The cookies I believe.–
