[E-Type] PTFE (was Polyurethane Bushings)

Just another thought re these bushings and apologies to all if this has been
asked before…

Seems to me that PTFE would be a good material for this application. When I
was using this stuff many many years ago it had, then, the lowest
coefficient of resistance etc, could easily be machined, couldn’t be burned
with the heat of a soldering iron…and…because of its low friction
properties, was used as bearing material in many of the better turntables of
the time (70’s).

Can’t be that expensive either?? Should be tough enough??

In it’s virgin form I would suspect that it would not be able to
stand up to the abuse and would likely ‘‘cold flow’’ under an
constant applied force as well. However, there are several blends,
and filled versions of PTFE on the market that may work well. They
have a higher pressure velocity rating (PV) and can stand up better
under constant loads without deforming.–
