Sorry for not being interesting at all… It’s about front license
plates regulations in Holland. Does my E-type have to carry one and
have it spoil the beautiful line of the nose? Would those stickers
be allowed instead?
I took a look at Jos Raven’s website - Jos, your car doesn’t seem
to carry a front license plate. Since your car drives around in
Holland and it is from the same year as mine… could I drop this
question especially in front of your feet…?
Many thanks! (In Dutch: Bij voorbaat mijn hartelijke dank voor de

Hello Andrys,
In Holland it is mandatory to have a front licence plate attached to a car.
Normally we have the yellow, reflecting, licence plates on all modern cars
as you
can see on my web-site on the X300.On cars older than 25 years it is allowed to have the old style plates, white lettering on dark blue. But even that is regulated, I asked for short plates like the U.S. style, because it would make a nice fit between the rear mufflers. Impossible! I and a few other E-type drivers left the front plates off and used a sticker (English style). I have the original licence plate in the car with a couple of large tie-wraps. If accosted by a policeman who threatens to give me a ticked, I hope that he will be appeased and forget his indignation if I mount the original plate in front of him. So far no problems yet. In Dutch; Ik hoop dat dit je een beetje verder helpt. Happy Holliday, Jos 1996 2+2 auto At 09:51 PM 12/24/03 +0100, you wrote:

Andrys,
Your question doesn’t necessarily apply to my car but still find the
differences in registration and associated problems interesting. No
need to apologize. Besides its a valid question for you and that’s why
the forum is here

Dear Andrys,
I have a 1968 4.2 OTS with a glued on front license plate and no
spare in the back (after 2 years of keeping it in the back). Never
gave me any problems, guess the strong arm of the law is looking at
the car rather than the license plate!
If you are interested I could mail some pictures, give me your E-
mail address off the forum if you are interested,
Groeten,–

EVERY time I see a photo of a UK E-Type, with that horrid
sticker plunked onto the beautiful nose, I just gotta shudder!! Bad
enough what us 'Murricans have to suffer (some states are smart and
don’t require a front plate…Colorado’s one that does…:() but
that terriblly ugly…goinker…on the nose of a Jag…eeeee-

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming…

Thanks lads!
I guess I just have to attach a plate when I’ll go and have my car
MOT’ed (APK in Holland). Whenever that will be… August 2004 is in
the planning, but I am not sure if that can be done… I’ll keep
you updated, anyway.
Cheers, Andrys–
