[E-Type] Rad Foam

In reply to a message from mytype sent Mon 15 Aug 2016:

Gentlemen, gentlemen, adhesive’s the problem.

Just snapped this pic of the subject area. It’s been like
this since back on the road, now well over 4,000 miles:

The foam is held securely in place by two clips, one on each
side, and you can see how the foam is deformed in front to
indicate it is functioning as it should:

The clips are 3’’ by 1/2’’ 18 ga mild steel with a 1/4’’ hole
drilled 1/2’’ from one end. Painted black then bent inward
slightly before securing to the rad using the existing fan
surround bolt - at the same time of course securing the foam
in place. On the other side the foam is pulled snug, a hole
is punched into the foam in the appropriate location and the
second clip is secured in place. Voila.–
The original message included these comments:

Hi Huff, good to see that someone has finally climbed this
Mountain. Many attempts with contact adhesive, double
back tapes, etc has produced a product that is ersatz at be
best.

Finally, I have been able to keep the foam rad cap in place.
It always wanted to stray, even when glued (only 3 attempts)
giving sundry adhesives time to dry and still it would shift
