[E-Type] Re: More OTS & DHC

None necessary, but I would add that the 120 and 140 OTS had a “bolt on”
bright metal windscreen frame while the DHC had a windscreen frame body
colored and integrated into the body.

I like the DHC, but then again I like 57 Lincolns.

Dear E-Type Enthusiants,

As I mentioned I would give you some objective information in regards to
the Tremec 3550 and my JT5 5 speed. You can read it at
www.5speeds.com/tremec.html.

Enjoy it…
Thanks,

With no disrespect, it is virtually impossible for any vendor be totally
objective when they are competing against another product? However, kudos
for the work that went into the page referenced. You are obviously very
knowledgeable as is John Black. I have no vested interest in either of the
products, but lets call competition by its true name.

Being an objective cynic, and being in no rush to get a 5 speed, I think it
best to wait for the jury to come in after Tony has sold a few dozen through
Hemmings and they have few hundred thousand miles put on them.

Just to show how weird some things get, this book:

http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=236669854

(Haddock’s 6-cylinder restoration guide, here bid up to $35 already)

is available in an expanded and revised edition, new, for

218935-6677217

(Amazon has it in stock for $23.95, probably with cheaper shipping.)

Caveat Emptor. All I know is that if I ever sell off my library, it’s going
to be on eBay.

If you read this piece it is very objective. Keep in mind that I have been
in the standard transmission biz for 20 years, We do sell a great deal of
3550 parts. I DO NOT HAVE A JAGUAR 5 SPEED BUSINESS! We sell standard
transmission parts for all american 3,4,5 and speed transmissions,
passenger car and light truck. The JT5 business is responsible for 5
percent of total sales. If you can grasp that concept and check at my site
and look at my references you will understand where I am coming
from…after all has anyone else tried to educate this list on this
subject before? In this detail …?

Also read the bulletin board and see how much OBJECTIVE help is given to
people on a wide range of subject matter.

I’ve stayed out of these lists so that my distributers and myself would not
have any conflicts. However I realized in all due respect alot of
unfounded nonsense has been posted. Again read the piece. It does not
mention which is better or not, it states some facts.

Tremec 3550 boxes sometimes will not shift right out of the box. I’ve been
reworking them since they were first introduced years ago.

Ask how many the other guys have built…
