[E-Type] Replacing door sill chrome

I have just removed the old sill chrome strips on my 73 2+2 which
were held on with some type of glue. The replacements included the
slide in clips which have teeth on one side. Should the teeth be
installed on top to bite into the vinyl sill or on the bottom to
bit into the paint over the sill seal.

The new chrome, like the old ones, are several inches shorter than
the sill itself. Should I install them flush with the rear of the
sill so the shortfall is hidden by the door hinge or center them in
the opening (how the old ones were installed). I appreciate the
advice.–

I never could get those clips to do what the should. So, I used
weatherstrip cement to hold them in position.

As to length, it sounds like you have strips for a coupe and not a
2+2. Are the ones you have about 9 inches too short?–
