It is hard to imagine. I hope they get caught, plus, I hope they have to do the entire hundred hours of community service.

Frankly, I’ve never (even as a kid) understood vandalism. It is the most
petty, lowest crime around. It would be a capital crime if I was dictator,
which probably explains why I am not Dear Leader and why it’s probably not a
good idea to make me president.
Why kind of mental damage to you have to suffer from to get pleasure from
smashing up someone else’s stuff?
Here’s some things I’d do to these thugs. Find out what item each one owns
that they absolutely love and smash it to pieces while they watch-----then
make them do the community time—then make them pay for the damage!!

The problem is they won’t even turn up for the community service
even if they are caught.
Things are going badly wrong over here, on Sat night at 00:10 I had
a young man (18) bang on the front door of my house. I live in a
very quiet small town. He was in a right state and had been beaten
up by a gang who jumped out of an alleyway while he walked his
girlfriend home. He wasn’t from round our area and just ran away
after getting a right beating. He called at a neighbour a couple of
doors down who told him to get lost, then onto my house. I
guardedly let him in since he was obviously terrified the gang were
still chasing him.
I phoned the police and reported it but guess what I’m still
waiting for them to turn up.
I phoned his girlfriend and then went to pick her up and then took
them both home.
Just another drunken night out in any UK town or city. Sad.

What is especially distressing in that thread is to read
through all the discussion amongst the Brits (all four pages
of the thread, if it has not grown even longer). Some
disturbing glimpses there of where we might be headed on
this side of the pond? First visited England in 1965, last
there in 2001, and many times in between. It has all changed
so much. Used to love to drive in the U.K. Hate it now. Much
prefer to go to Oz or Kiwiparadise.–

Len,
We don’t bother with permits, want a gun go to the local pub and
buy one.
Two shot at a Kanye West gig the other night, gun crime is rife
over here and only makes local news so permits would do no good
since the ones who have the guns wouldn’t buy one.

I’m a expat Brit and as one guy said on that forum, the
abolition of National Service seemed to be the starting
point for all this hooliganism.
When I was an apprentice, I remember the bad bully boy type
guys would go away for their two years in the army or
whatever but come back totally reformed.–

Clive,
I'm with you. I've thought for a looooong time that mandatory
military service would be a good thing for the country as a whole.
Looking at those pictures just makes you want to cry (OK, I
admit the rolled VW Beetle didn’t really bother me that much…)
Some of those cars were clearly in A+++ condition before that merry
band of a-holes came along.–

Absolutely disgusting!!! Some with the same mindset seem to have a need to go into cemetaries about once a year in CT to push over and break headstones. Some hundreds of years old. Sick is right.

No offense but God help them if I were on that jury. I agree with you that
an insanity plea would probably be entered but the sheer mindlessness of
this atrocity cannot be blamed on cerebral malfunction, deficient
upbringing, childhood sexual mistreatment by extraterrestrial aliens or any
of the other convenient “it ain’t my fault because of (enter blame
transference excuse here)” defenses.
I’m in favor of some new legislation holding attorneys financially liable
for BS suits and/or arguments that, if they lose, their suits automatically
constitute unwarranted harassment of the Defendant. At a minimum, they
should be liable for treble damages plus court costs in an amount based on
the amount requested in the suit that they bring. I fully realize not all
defense attorneys are of that ilk but an awful lot of them are and it’s time
the courts put the brakes on.
We have listers who have mentioned before they have been put in the position
of defending themselves against bottom feeder lawsuits and I’m one of them.
It has cost me many thousands of dollars this past year over a disputed
point that could have been solved by a phone call and reasonable discussion.
But nooooooo, in spite of previously executed Hold Harmless agreements and
indemifications, they drag in a legal scumbag who wins his/her fees no
matter what and run up billable hours out the wazoo.
Some of my best friends are attorneys, but…
(Rant off, Nomex suit on…)

The U.S. Army is a dangerous place to be right now. This is not
the same world we grew up in,things have changed. When my oldest
son was being picked on by a bully in school, I told him to stand
up for him self or the kid would never stop. A couple days latter
that kid got arrested for having a gun in his locker. Thankfully
my son realized I was just out of touch with the world as it is now
and he is still alive. I would never advocate a policy like that
when the modern worlds values are changing so fast. Our military is
being used like a police force. No thanks!

About 5 years ago in Houston a visitor from somewhere in the British Isles was lost, drunk and wandering around one of the “better” Houston neighborhoods beating on doors at 2:00 AM. One homeowner, fearing for his life I presume, shot him dead - through the door.
Sickening as it is I am wondering how much the owner spent on security of
this facility. I spent my career doing physical security reviews and it
soon came apparent some of the most valuable properties were very poorly
secured.
