[E-Type] Sam Cooke, E-Type

I watched a show on PBS about the great singer, writer, producer
Sam Cooke and near the end they showed a still of him sitting in a
roadster, so I searched around and found these two but nothing else
and no mention of it except,
‘‘He was the coolest. He was the sharpest. You never saw his
downside. and while the rest of them were driving Cadillacs and
Lincolns, he had his hip little Jaguar XKE sports car delivered to
him on the road.’’

I noticed the photo was reversed but I’m pretty sure the graphics
people had probaby never even seen one in person, What I’m working
on now is what the words on the right of the photo might of said,
was it a show flyer ?, I searched all his album covers and it’s not
from any of those, Would be nice to know what became of the car too.
I do know that it WAS his car and not just a borrowed prop for the
shoot, so there is some paper trail somewhere.–

Just get the picture on the screen like you want it, then hit
the ‘‘print screen’’ button on the keyboard, then open your photo

It’s interesting to scroll through the issue and see all the old
adds for cars, beers, whiskeys, rice cereal, etc.

If you read the article about Sam Cooke, it says that he had a ‘‘new
sports car’’ stolen from him in Chicago. Maybe that was the Jag in
the photos. The night of his death, he left a Ferrari running
outside when he assaulted the motel manager and was shot.

Just shows that celebrities have always liked fast cars and done
stupid things. Even today. Say Tiger or a host of others.–

Thjey way the story was presented, he didn’t assualt anyone. The manager “thought” he was coming at her, when in fact he was going to ask for help.

Of course I wasn’t there, so who knows>---- archijag archijag52@yahoo.com wrote:

Maybe ‘‘assaulted’’ was too strong of a word. I thought it said he
knocked the door open and the manager with it, then stormed into
the bathroom. I imagine if you were a woman manager late at night
with that kind of clientele, and in that location, you might shoot
before asking what a person was angry about. I wouldn’t want the
experience.

What I found interesting about the cars, was that he had a new
sports car stolen in Chicago. An earlier post talked about how it
would be interesting to try to find his Jag. The article made me
think that the Jag might have been the car stolen in Chicago.

Celebrities make as many bad choices as the rest of us. It’s just
that everyone finds out about it.–

It didn’t say that at all. It said he was in the hall approaching her desk and didn’t have a chance to say much of anything before she shot him. She was interviewed in the video.
